The shop, the bookstall and fundraising

Fundraising

In 2012, Lavenham Church will be running “Pound a week” club, employing teams of churchgoers and local residents to hit a target of £10,000. See below for details…

The Bookstall

Lavenham church has a well-established second-hand bookshop which, apart from church visitors, has a number of regular buyers from Suffolk and beyond. Sales are on trust with a cash-slot provided, so bring plenty of change!

Our bread-and-butter sales are paperbacks, but we also satisfy the needs of collectors having at any one time a variety of books of interest (which have been priced to be fair to both donors and buyers).

We have had many unusual donations. The stall was given a 1930s catalogue of designer beds made for Heal’s the famous London store. Who on earth would want to buy it? Twenty minutes after putting it out on sale, a gentleman visiting Lavenham from Kent did.   He was delighted, as his father used to make them.Label on bed frame Heal & Son

  1. Hi, my name is Jack Leard from Corpus Christi, Texas, USA and I am trying to find a replacement for a cross that I bought at the church 30+ years ago. It was a cross made from horseshoe nails I believe. Have you ever heard of them? ANY information would be greatly appreciated. My cross was stolen. Thanks!
