Services in February 2012

"That day they fasted and wore sackcloth; they sprinkled ashes on their heads and tore their clothes" (1 Maccabees 3:47; see also 4:39)As Epiphany draws to a close it is worth taking note of some of the progamme of worship as building towards Lent.

Sunday services in Lavenham will be at 8am (Book of Common Prayer) and 10.15 (Common Worship).

Our sister church at Preston St Mary will be holding services at the following times:

5th Feb. Book of Common Prayer Service at 9am

12th Feb. Book of Common Prayer Service at 6pm

19th Feb. Common Worship Morning Prayer service at 9am

26th Feb. Passion Sunday (First Sunday in Lent) Evensong (Book of Common Prayer) at 6pm.

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday, 22nd Feb. Lavenham Church will be celebrating Holy Communion at 7.30pm. Traditionally, ash from the burned palm crosses from the previous year’s Palm Sunday is applied in the form of the Cross to the foreheads of worshipers at the Ash Wednesday service, known as 2the Imposition of Ashes”. This will, of course, be optional to all who attend.

Lent Course

This year’s lent Course begins on Monday the 27th of Feb, at 9.45am in Lavenham Village Hall. More details to follow but, anticipating and interesting and engaging programme of discussions, you are warmly and enthusiastically encouraged to take part!
