Creative Workshop with Jonathan Boast in St Edmundsbury Cathedral

Local artist and member of Lavenham’s congregation, Jonathan Boast is hosting a ‘Creative Workshop’ at the Cathedral in Bury St Edmunds on Saturday 14 May 2016 from 9.30am to 12 noon in the Cathedral Lecture Room

There will be an introduction by the artist on the techniques and methods of his working practice before the practical session begins.

JonathanBoast MonalithWe will then use mixed media to create a group piece, a large scale mock-up of a stained glass window based around an image of Saint Edmund the Martyr using collage techniques. Participants will use printouts of the Bury Bible and the artist will also provide photographic source materials of suffolk landscapes (linked to his present body of work) along with archival prints from around the town of Bury St. Edmunds also printouts of historical documents linked to the town as a resource for the project. Using cut and paste techniques and layering images we will work together to create the final canvas and form the image of King Edmund.

Following the session each participant will receive an stained glass style acetate print of the completed piece to keep.

 

Cost of the workshop will be £10 each including tea/coffee.
